Help · Google Search Console
Set up Google Search Console. It's free.
Search Console is Google's own free tool showing how your website appears in Google Search. Connecting it lets Aimaseo base your plan on what actually happens, not just on estimates.
What it lets Aimaseo do for you
- See the searches your website already appears for, including ones third-party tools miss
- Use your real impressions and clicks, not estimates
- Spot when Google shows the wrong page for a search, so we can fix it
- Measure whether each change we make actually worked
Your real Google data takes priority over third-party estimates. We still use market data to find demand you aren't visible for yet. Access is read-only: we can't change anything in your Google account.
Five steps, about ten minutes
- 1
Open Search Console. It's free from Google
Go to Google Search Console and sign in with the Google account you use for your business. There's nothing to pay and nothing to install. - 2
Add your website
Click Add property. You'll see two options:- Domain (recommended): covers your whole website in one go, with or without “www” and on every page. Enter just your web address, for example
yourbusiness.co.uk. - URL prefix: covers only addresses that start exactly as you type them, such as
https://www.yourbusiness.co.uk. Use this if you can't change your domain settings.

Prove you own the website
Google needs to check the website is yours.- For a Domain property, Google gives you a short line of text to add to your domain's settings (a “DNS TXT record”). Log in to the company where you bought your domain (for example GoDaddy, 123-reg, Namecheap or Cloudflare), find the DNS settings, add the text exactly as Google shows it, then click Verify. It's usually instant but can take up to a day.
- For a URL prefix property, the simplest options are an HTML tag added to your homepage, or your existing Google Analytics or Tag Manager account. Many website builders, such as WordPress plugins, Wix, Squarespace and Shopify, have a box where you paste Google's code.

Come back to Aimaseo
Once Google says ownership is verified, return to Aimaseo. You don't need to change any other Search Console settings. - 5
Click Connect Google
Sign in with the same Google account you used in Search Console and allow read-only access. Aimaseo then finds the property for your website and re-checks your plan with your real data. If you've only just added your website, Google can take a few days to show data. Connect now anyway, and your plan will use it once it appears.

Common questions
Do I need Search Console to use Aimaseo?
No. The free audit works from your website and market data. Search Console is strongly recommended, because it makes the recommendations more accurate and lets us measure results.
I connected Google but you couldn't find my website.
The Google account you connected doesn't have access to a Search Console property for this website. Either add the property with that account (steps above), or ask whoever owns it to add you as a user under Settings → Users and permissions in Search Console. Then reconnect.
Is it safe?
We ask for read-only access and use it only to plan and measure work on your website. See our privacy policy. You can disconnect at any time.
